Research/Areas of Interest
Neuroinflammation has been increasingly recognized as a central player in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). While the roles of CNS-resident innate immune cells like microglia are fairly well-established during disease progression, it is still unknown whether and how peripheral adaptive immunity is involved in AD pathogenesis. I am currently investigating how signaling from CNS-derived astrocytic exosomes may stimulate peripheral immune responses that contribute to neurodegenerative disease.
