Applying to Certificates in Clinical & Translational Science

The Clinical & Translational Science program offers two certificates; one, in person, for Clinical and Translational Science, and an online Certificate in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR).

Admission for both of these programs is through the online GSBS application. Details about required documents can be found on the online applications as well as on the Required Application Documents page.

Certificate in Clinical & Translational Science

The in-person Certificate Program in Clinical and Translational Science is intended for individuals already trained in the medical sciences, most commonly fully-trained physicians. Others with similar backgrounds (e.g., DDS, DVM or PharmD) or advanced biomedical or clinical degrees may also be considered. The certificate is designed for trainees who want training in clinical research but do not wish to commit to a degree program. Many students electing to enroll in the certificate program are completing fellowship training at one of the Tufts University School of Medicine affiliated hospitals. Classes begin in July for this program.

Online Health Economics & Outcomes Research Certificate

The Online Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) certificate is a self-contained 3-course, 5-credit introduction to the field of health economics and outcomes research. HEOR informs health care decision-making by allowing stakeholders, especially payers, health care providers, and patients, to understand the clinical, economic, and quality of life endpoints of various treatments and health care practices. Applicants for the Online HEOR Certificate Program should hold at least a bachelor’s degree. Professionals in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry (including departments such as HEOR, market access, commercial, and development), clinicians and other health care professionals, graduate degree holders, and graduate degree students are encouraged to apply. Classes begin in September for the HEOR Certificate.
