Basic Science MS Programs
GSBS offers two dynamic MS programs in our Basic Science Division: MS in Pharmacology and Drug Development and MS in Biomedical Research. Both programs provide hands-on laboratory experience, culminating in a research-driven MS thesis.
Designed for aspiring scientists, these programs start in September and are completed by May of the second year, equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge to excel in research, academia, or the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
MS in Biomedical Research
The MS in Biomedical Research (MBR) is a two-year, research-intensive program leading to completion of a master's thesis in one of four disciplines:
- Genetics, Molecular & Cellular Biology (GMCB)
- Immunology (IMM)
- Molecular Microbiology (MMB)
- Neuroscience (NRSC)
The program provides students with significant research experience and fundamental biomedical science knowledge through PhD-level coursework in their chosen discipline. The MBR program provides excellent preparation for further study at the PhD level or for careers in academia, or the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
MS in Pharmacology & Drug Development
The MS in Pharmacology & Drug Development (PDD) at Tufts University is a two-year, research-intensive program designed for individuals who seek advanced training in pharmacology that will enhance their professional and career options. Through a rigorous blend of coursework, hands-on laboratory research, and exposure to regulatory and clinical applications, students develop the expertise needed to drive biomedical research, pharmaceutical sciences, and drug innovation. Research rotations and thesis work are tailored to align with students' specific research interests and preferences, ensuring a personalized and impactful learning experience.
