Post-bac Internship (Tufts PREP)
The Post-Baccalaureate Research Program (PREP) at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) offers research training for recent graduates of undergraduate colleges and universities who are interested in pursuing research careers in the biomedical sciences. As a PREP trainee, you’ll work on a hypothesis-driven project in a field of your choice, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from GSBS Graduate Faculty.
Running from July 1 to June 30, the program provides a competitive salary, health benefits, and tuition support. Funded in part by an NIH grant, PREP offers a valuable opportunity to advance your research skills and prepare for the next step in your career.
Training Overview
PREP prepares you to be a successful applicant for quality PhD or MD/PhD biomedical research training. About 75% of PREP Scholar time is spent conducting research under the guidance of your faculty mentor and your research committee.
Trainees are integrated into a graduate program and interact with graduate students by participating in courses, workshops, seminars and a graduate retreat.
Applying to PREP
Most biomedical PhD training programs value applicants who have strong research experience. However, many people who wish to enter research training have not had the requisite experience. The PREP is designed to provide the research experiences that make its participants highly sought-after applicants for graduate schools.
Applicants apply to PREP using the GSBS online application portal.
Prep Courses
PREP Scholars complete a skills course designed specifically for their program and take other graduate courses.
Scholar Publications
Publication of research is a key part of training and our scholars publish their work in excellent journals.
PREP Alumni
Our alumni typically enter top graduate programs upon completing their year at GSBS.
