Research/Areas of Interest:

Over the course of infection, the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) encounters disparate microenvironments marked by varying levels of ions. These host environmental signals serve as important cues for Mtb in sensing and adapting to its location within the host cell. I am interested in elucidating novel ionic signals that Mtb encounters during phagosomal maturation and the transcriptional regulators involved in the bacterium’s response to these environmental cues.
