Research/Areas of Interest
Acinetobacter baumannii is a common hospital-acquired infection, and one of several multidrug resistant (MDR) pathogens that are increasingly harder to treat with current antibiotics. In order to understand how these drug resistant A baumannii arise, I will be studying the formation of persisters in a bacterial population treated with antibiotics, and how these persisters lead to the acquisition of drug resistance.
