Research/Areas of Interest
My research is focused on the protein STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes), and the way it functions in endothelial cells related to cardiac dysfunction. We have observed that when STING is absent in endothelial cells, there is impaired transendothelial migration of T-lymphocytes in response to TNF⍺-induced inflammation. Further, we know that T-lymphocytes infiltrate the heart in this manner to cause cardiac dysfunction. My work will explore the mechanisms of STING in endothelial cell function and investigation of therapeutic approaches targeting this pathway in cardiovascular disease."
