Research/Areas of Interest
Human papillomavirus infections cause five percent of all human cancers. The oncoprotein E7 is a major contributor to carcinogenesis by degrading pRB1. However, E7's role in oncogenic transformation and immortalization is not fully explained by its interaction with pRB1. Previous work has identified PTPN14 as another potential tumor suppressor targeted by E7. My research will further characterize E7's carcinogenic activities in relation to both pRB1 and PTPN14.
