Research/Areas of Interest:

Before the accumulation of amyloid plaques characteristics of Alzheimer’s disease and the emergence of behavioral symptoms, the entorhinal-hippocampal network is hyperexcitable.  Although much is known about the physiological activity of the hippocampus, the reason of its vulnerability and its consequences for the trajectory of the disease are still unclear. By means of electrophysiological investigations in a knock-in mouse model of Alzheimer, my research seeks to elucidate the potential involvement of adenosine, a key neuromodulator, in the early events of Alzheimer’s disease.
