What is the ultimate goal of your research?

Our ultimate goal is to design strategies for optimal treatment of arthritis. We aim at enhancing cartilage regeneration by using tissue engineering, biochemical and genetic approaches to study tissue interactions and molecular signalings during cartilage formation and degeneration.

What excites you about your research?

I really like identifying unsolved problems. It is exciting to design experiments to uncover something new, and to seek solutions through innovation.

What do you like best about GSBS students?

They are enthusiastic and very interactive.

What qualities distinguish GSBS from other graduate schools?

GSBS provides a rigorous training curriculum for its students, and it stimulates learning and student interactions through various activities such as poster competitions and the relays. I particularly enjoy the close bond between GSBS faculty and students.

What do you do to relax?

Swimming, exploring nature and spending time with family are real favorites. When driving in traffic jams, listening to audiobooks always relaxes me and I learn something new as well.

What is your favorite Boston restaurant?

I like East Ocean City, Penang, and Legal Sea Foods.
