What is the ultimate goal of your research?

Our research is focused on how stress triggers neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, ranging from epilepsy to depression. For example, individuals with epilepsy do not experience seizures all the time, but rather seizures are triggered, and the most common trigger is stress. We are trying to identify how the stress response is regulated and how dysregulation may contribute to these disorders.

What excites you about your research?

Finding a piece of the puzzle that explains something unknown it is exhilarating. Generally, getting experiments to work is pretty exciting too!

What do you like best about GSBS students?

I really enjoy the close relationship of the GSBS students with one another and with the faculty.

What qualities distinguish GSBS from other graduate schools?

The collaborative environment within the GSBS School, both at the student and faculty level, is unique from other institutions. Within the GSBS, you really get the impression that people are approachable and are working together towards a common goal.

What do you do to relax?

I like to exercise, read, cook, and watch college and professional sports (Go Steelers!).

What is your favorite Boston restaurant?

I can't pick just one. I like Café Ole, R.F. O’Sullivans, and Temple Bar all located in Cambridge, MA.
