Research/Areas of Interest
I am investigating the neurobiology of stress and alcohol misuse. In a heterogeneous population of Wistar rats, there is great variation in voluntary alcohol consumption following an acute stressor. These individual differences may translate to the diversity of outcomes in humans following traumatic events. Using a predator odor stress model, I am exploring the role of bed nucleus of the stria terminalis and lateral hypothalamus neurocircuitry in mediating these stress-alcohol interactions.
