Research/Areas of Interest:
Clostridioides difficile infection, which occurs in people experiencing antibiotic-associated gut dysbiosis, is a significant cause of gastrointestinal disease throughout the US. While the C. difficile replicative niche is generally considered to be the colon, the Shen Lab has recently found that a subpopulation of cells can be found near the gut epithelium. I am interested in learning more about the distinct populations of C. difficile that occur during infection.
