Research/Areas of Interest
My research interests include maternal tobacco cessation and pregnancy, genetics of teratogens, placenta epigenetics. My role in the Wallingford Lab is to perform gene expression experiments that test whether a specific gene’s absence impacts the expression of other genes that control placenta development in mice. The techniques I use for this include polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to genotype tissues, quantitative RT-PCR for assessing gene expression level, and in situ hybridization to observe RNA localization.
