Research/Areas of Interest:
Clostridioides difficile is a spore-forming anaerobic enteric pathogen that is responsible for a significant number of hospital-acquired infections worldwide. Previous work in the Shen lab has shown that there are subpopulations of C. difficile within the colon that exhibit phenotypic and spatial heterogeneity. I aim to understand what factors drive this observed heterogeneity.
