During HSV infection, newly assembled capsids escape the nucleus using a complex process that involves budding and fusion of the nuclear envelope. While the viral proteins that mediate this process have been characterized, little is known about the contributions of host proteins. My thesis project focuses on identifying host proteins that facilitate HSV nuclear egress process and determining the mechanisms by which they do so.
