Research/Areas of Interest
Pairing and segregation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis is essential for viable gametes. In the Y chromosome, this is limited to a small region called the pseudoautosomal region. Changes to the Y chromosome, especially to the pseudoautosomal region, could have an impact on this process and affect an organism's fertility. Studying these changes as they evolve could improve our understanding of fertility and reproductive disorders. By employing mouse models of unique Y chromosome features, I hope to further our understanding of these processes and the mechanisms that drive evolution in the Y chromosome./p>
