Research/Areas of Interest
In the HSV replication cycle, newly formed capsids are assembled in the nucleus and exit into the cytoplasm via a complex process involving budding and fusion with the nuclear envelope. The viral proteins involved in this process have been characterized, but much less is known about the host factors involved. The aim of my thesis project is to identify new host factors involved in nuclear egress and characterize their mechanistic roles.
