Research/Areas of Interest:

Clostridioides difficile is an anaerobic, Gram-positive spore-forming pathogen whose major cause of infections is the disruption of the normal intestinal microbiota by broad-spectrum antibiotics. C. difficile spore formation and germination are essential for the survival and dissemination respectively of this pathogen in the environment. I am working to understand the molecular signaling pathway that induces C. difficile spore germination, specifically the role that pseudoproteases in the Csp family play in integrating germinant and co-germinant signals.
