Research/Areas of Interest:

I no longer accept dissertation students.

I am an active participant in teaching and program activities. My research focused on mucosal immunology and microbial pathogenesis, with an emphasis on bacterial enzymes that proteolytically attack human mucosal IgA antibodies. I am still active in studying IgA deposition diseases, a common cause of renal failure that we are proposing to reverse by using bacterial IgA proteases for treatment of patients.
