Research/Areas of Interest:

My lab takes an interdisciplinary approach encompassing fundamental molecular and cellular biology, in vivo state-of-the-art imaging technologies, and in vivo pathophysiological models (mouse and human) to further our understanding of how blood flow regulation and inflammation contribute to the etiology of neurological diseases. Because endothelial Panx1 regulates cerebral arterial myogenic tone and venous inflammation, which are both dysregulated in ischemic stroke and Alzheimer's Disease, our long-term research goal is to investigate the contribution of the cerebral vasculature to the development of neurological diseases, such as ischemic stroke and Alzheimer's Disease, and to identify novel targets, such as endothelial Panx1, for therapeutic intervention.
