Research/Areas of Interest:

Tuberculosis, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, remains a critical global health issue that requires an antibiotic regimen of six to nine months. We hypothesize that the reason for the long course of treatment is due to phenotypic differences between bacterial cells that give rise to antibiotic tolerance. My research is focused on determining the interplay of growth and antibiotic susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis at the single cell level.
