Research/Areas of Interest

My lab applies basic science approaches (molecular, cellular and animal model based) to the discovery of cardiovascular disease mechanisms identified through human genetic studies. I also contribute to and at times lead the investigation of large established collaborative genetic studies. My key goal is to then bring those human observations, which are fundamentally associative, to the basic science arena for mechanistic studies. Current research in my laboratory is focused on the role of genetic variants in cardiomyopathy.
