Research/Areas of Interest

My research interest is in the use of high-resolution physiological data from medical devices for improving clinical decision making across the patient care spectrum – from pre-hospital care through hospitalization and in consumer health settings. I was a lead electrocardiographic algorithm engineer at Hewlett-Packard’s non-invasive cardiology division. This foundation in signal processing and software development has expanded to include other contexts such as echocardiography, x-rays, fetal monitoring, ophthalmology, clinical informatics, and veterinary antibiotic stewardship. My graduate focus combines many of my interests and experiences toward research and development in clinical decision-making during maternity care and labor using commodity medical devices to strike a balance between improving care while reducing the cost of care and access.
