GSBS Alum Robbie Goldstein Makes a Difference
Robbie Goldstein, a 2012 MD/PhD graduate, has changed care for transgender people and their family members by founding MGH's Transgender Health Program.
When Robbie completed his infectious disease training he knew he wanted to build on a long-standing interest in HIV care and prevention. He soon realized that the affected community was larger than he initially thought and included many transgender women. His understanding of the problems faced by this group in obtaining care led him to found the Transgender Health Program at Massachusetts General Hospital.
This program "...doesn’t affect my exam in any way,” he said. “What it does is create a safe space to build on the doctor/patient relationship.”
