Dean’s Message - July 24, 2023

Dear Members of the GSBS Community,

I am pleased to compose my first entry for the Goods as Dean of GSBS. When first asked to serve as Dean ad interim, I wondered to myself if I could truly do what is expected or required, or in more informal terms, “deliver the goods.” As I prepared this column, I looked over the many generous and thoughtful comments of my predecessor, Dan Jay, particularly on my behalf, as he discussed his upcoming sabbatical and my upcoming succession. Dan has been an exemplary role model and friend, and it has been a pleasure to work with him on the transition between his tenure and mine.

As with previous Deans, I view the position as an honor and one of service to the GSBS community. In the coming months, I look forward to working with the Program Directors and all of you as we foster our shared scientific enterprise and facilitate the pursuit of scientific excellence. Working together, I am certain that we will do more than just “deliver the goods.”
