A warm welcome to our new students from Dean Jay. Enjoy your time at GSBS!

Dear GSBS Community,

Happy New Year! May 2021 be better for all of us.

I’d like to welcome our incoming class who begin their lab rotations this week. Try to say hi virtually or in person, as safety permits. Welcome to: Mohammed Alshagawi, Katrina Blandino, Zhenyu Chang, Tyler Colson, Rebecca Condruti, Kayleigh Conway, Theresa Harvey, William Johnson, Pola Kuhn, Chunhui Li, Samantha Moores, Isabelle Mueller, Iziegbe Omorodion, Natalia Quirk, Sylvia Rivera, Erin Sanders, Machlan Sawden, Alessandra Setaro, Natalie Sontag, Justine Tang, Christopher Wells, Alexandra Werner, Yishak Woldetsadik, and Frank Zamudio. It is an exciting start to your scientific careers with us and it must feel good to finally get into a lab. I know that we all join together in wishing you every success.

Please reach out as you can (safely) and connect with fellow students, faculty and staff. As you will be completing orientation tomorrow, please ask any questions to help you get settled. I also encourage upper-class students to reach out to the incoming class.

I hope you will take advantage of the activities your programs provide, as well as the many GSBS student clubs. One such club is the Journal of Emerging Investigators (JEI) which is currently looking for volunteers for those interested in science editing and outreach. Please email Chris Schwake who leads this group. Thank you for joining our community and hope that you will find it a warm and welcoming one, even with pandemic constraints.
