Dean's Message - January 10, 2022

Help keep our community strong and safe in these challenging times and celebrate the achievements of our students.
Jaharis Building in the spring

Dear GSBS Community,

I hope that you all had a safe and restful break and wish you every success in the New Year. The dark days of winter are always difficult, and are made especially so due to the current and troubling COVID surge. We understand anxiety that this provokes. At GSBS, our courses will remain hybrid, and you have been diligent in lab social distancing and masking, thus limiting spread. If any of you have specific issues, please reach out directly to me or Dan Volchok.

We are all tired, and at times overwhelmed. I take solace in our community and the day-to-day courage that you have all shown by putting one foot in front of the other. It has been said that most of success comes from just showing up. I am so pleased to report that our students have been achieving success even in this dark time; GSBS students recently received five fellowships, a testament to their talent and hard work, as well as the work of their mentors. Celebrating our achievements helps shine a light in the darkness.

I hope that we can continue to be kind and supportive and build a nurturing community to serve as a bulwark against hard times. I also hope that you might find opportunities to share your talents to others by outreach. Contributing to our community makes us appreciate the gifts we have and can lighten our journeys.

Best,

Dan Jay, Dean
