Dean's Message - April 5, 2021

Enjoy the spring holidays and the warmer weather. Spring is a time of hope and this year that is especially meaningful.
Jaharis Building in the spring

Dear GSBS Community,

It is the beginning of Spring and a rare convergence of major holidays. While Passover and Easter generally coincide, this year Ramadan also starts April 16. The Persian New Year Nowruz was March 20, the Hindu festival Holi was March 28, and coming up is Vesak (Buddha’s birthday) on May 26. I wish you all happy holidays.

This year has been hard for many of us; winter, with its surge in COVID-19, was especially challenging. Everyone has felt tired and stressed. You have all endured loss and hardship. You have worked hard to continue your research, teaching and training through tough times. I’m proud of students, faculty and staff for their efforts. For all these reasons, this season of holidays and blessings feels more meaningful than most. With vaccinations and warm weather and baseball back at Fenway, it feels like we are turning a corner. I hope that you can all celebrate rebirth and faith safely with friends and family.

Dan Jay, Dean
