Dear GSBS,

As we move past Labor Day and the “end” of summer, we welcome all our new students to GSBS and the start of a new academic year. For the first time in a few years, I do not need to remind everyone of our COVID restrictions; rather, we can look forward to a traditional September start.

Today are the in-person sessions of our New Student Orientation. I encourage everyone in Boston to attend the Welcome Reception in the Jaharis Courtyard, beginning at 3:30 pm. Come meet our new students; reconnect with current students, faculty and staff; and enjoy some traditional New England Fall food and drink.

The Graduate Student Council will hold their traditional welcome reception and club fair on Thursday, September 15 beginning at 4 pm, also in the Jaharis Courtyard. Our active student organizations will be in attendance to meet the new students and provide the opportunity for all students to engage in activities outside the classroom and lab. All students are encouraged to attend.

Finally, as we launch our new Career and Professional Development Program, please consider registering for one or more of the upcoming workshops or one-on-one career coaching meetings. Professional development and career opportunities are not areas that should be ignored until you are close to completing, but should be an on-going process throughout everyone’s graduate career. If you have any questions regarding Career and Professional Development, feel free to reach out to me or email Alex Israel.

Have a great semester and see you this afternoon!

Dan Volchok, Associate Dean
