Dear GSBS Community,

As we work through the busiest part of admissions season for the next GSBS class, I want to acknowledge the dedicated work of many faculty, staff and students. Special kudos go to Admissions Director Laura Felch for her leadership in bringing us all together for this important effort.

On the Basic Science PhD side, most programs have completed their interview process and made initial offers. We had a banner year for applications; we received 664 applications compared to 473 last year. Over 150 applicants have been interviewed, and a few have already confirmed that they will be joining us in the fall of 2023. We are in the final stages of planning our Admitted Students Day on March 10.

Beyond the Basic Science programs, the CTS and PDD programs are beginning their admissions processes with a wide variety of applicants. They will be completing their interviews and decisions over the next few months. Our pipeline programs, BDBS and PREP, have also received a number of applications that will be reviewed for matriculation in May and July, respectively.

It truly takes a full community to attract, interview and decide on the best candidates for our programs. Thank you to everyone who has spent time reviewing applications, interviewing students, meeting with the applicants, and showcasing all that GSBS has to offer.

Dan Volchok, Associate Dean
