  • Students will typically complete the program within 3-5 years.

  • The program is full-time, requiring students to meet all the academic requirements of a traditional PhD while balancing their professional responsibilities. Companies are expected to adjust work hours to support students' academic commitments.

Admissions & Eligibility

  • Candidates must hold a master’s degree and be employed by a partnering company. The company must agree to sponsor the student’s participation in the program.

    Candidates must be nominated by their employer to apply for the program. Employers evaluate potential applicants internally and provide a Letter of Certification and Recommendation for selected employees. Only employees who have been formally selected by their company should proceed with the application process. Applicants without employer endorsement are not eligible to apply.

  • Application instructions are available on the program’s admissions page. Applicants will need to submit transcripts, a CV, a statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation.

  • No, the GRE is not required for this program.

Program Features & Structure

  • Students pick an area of specialization and follow that PhD's curriculum and requirements. The program combines hybrid learning options, on-campus engagement, and rigorous research. Each student works under the guidance of a Thesis Advisory Committee, including industry and Tufts faculty advisors.
