MS in Biomedical Research Admissions
Students seeking admission to the MS in Biomedical Research (MBR) program apply to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and select the MBR program. Applicants should also select the discipline of study upon application.
MBR is designed for students interested in increasing their fundamental scientific knowledge by taking graduate-level courses relevant for modern biological and biomedical research and obtaining significant research experience in preparation to apply to PhD programs in the US or jobs in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
Students select their discipline at the time of application and may choose one of the following areas for the MS degree:
- Genetics, Molecular & Cellular Biology
- Immunology
- Molecular Microbiology
- Neuroscience
US citizens, permanent residents and international students are eligible to apply. Applicants should have a baccalaureate degree in biology or a related scientific field.

Admissions is rolling until May 1 or until the desired class size has been achieved.

Personal Statement Essay Prompt: In a 1-2 page personal statement, demonstrate your academic motivation for the Tufts Master of Science in Biomedical Research Program (MBR) and describe your background and perspective that will allow you to contribute to the Tufts GSBS community. If you have research experience, please ensure to highlight this in your statement.
