MS in Biomedical Research Admissions
Students seeking admission to the MS in Biomedical Research (MBR) program apply to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and select the MBR program. Applicants should also select the discipline of study upon application.
MBR is designed for students interested in increasing their fundamental scientific knowledge by taking graduate-level courses relevant for modern biological and biomedical research and obtaining significant research experience in preparation to apply to PhD programs in the US or jobs in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
Students select their discipline at the time of application and may choose one of the following areas for the MS degree:
- Genetics, Molecular & Cellular Biology
- Immunology
- Molecular Microbiology
- Neuroscience
US citizens, permanent residents and international students are eligible to apply. Applicants should have a baccalaureate degree in biology or a related scientific field.
Application Deadline
Admissions is rolling until May 1 or until the desired class size has been achieved.
Selection Criteria
An applicants educational background and relevant research experience are considered during the admissions process. The responses to the two essays that are part of the application are also important.
The essay prompts are:
- Essay 1: Please upload a one to three page personal statement describing your research experience, your interest in the Master's in Biomedical Research and chosen concentration, and why you are interested in attending the Tufts Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
- Essay 2: Please respond to one of the following two prompts (no minimum nor maximum words/pages requirement). Make sure to indicate at the top of the page of your submitted document as to which prompt you chose.
- How have you contributed to or supported diversity, equity, and inclusion in the past? How do you see yourself contributing to these efforts as part of the GSBS community?
- Please share how your background and perspective have contributed to a community. How did this help shape your view of what community means? We also invite you to tell us how your background and perspective will add to the GSBS community.
