Research/Areas of Interest
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infects the majority of the world’s population during their lifetime, causing developmental abnormalities in neonates. HCMV glycoprotein B (gB) plays an important role as a fusogen and immunogen, so it is a target for all vaccines currently in development. My thesis research is to investigate the mechanistic contributions of gB to membrane fusion and stabilization of the gB prefusion state, with a particular focus on the cytoplasmic domain (CTD) of gB.
