Dean's Message - November 14, 2022

Dear GSBS Community,

I am pleased to announce that the Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology (GMCB) Program has been approved by the Tufts Board of Trustees and will officially launch today, November 14, 2022. This program is a merger of the existing CMDB and Genetics programs and creates a stronger, more inclusive program. CMDB and Genetics will become legacy programs effective September 1, 2023.

Phil Hinds has been elected as the inaugural Program Director for GMCB, with his appointment beginning today. He will work with the Dean’s Office, and the students and faculty currently in CMDB and Genetics, to ensure a smooth transition to the new program.

I would like to give a personal and heartfelt thank you to Brent Cochran and Pam Yelick for their leadership of the CMDB and Genetics programs, and their work in crafting the proposal for the merged program.
