Dean's Message - August 21, 2023

Dear Members of the GSBS Community,

As my second month as Dean ad interim winds down, I want to take a moment to thank all of you who have reached out to help, to inform and to welcome me in my new role. It has been a delightful experience to work closely with the GSBS staff, Program Directors, Department Chairs, GSC student representatives and all of you in trying to understand, appreciate and promote the well-being and interests of the GSBS Community.

GSBS Relays were particularly enjoyable as I got to meet many students for the first time and enjoy both the camaraderie and friendly competition. I even managed to acquire some beer swag through a second chance raffle drawing since Phil Hinds left early and could not claim his prize. I was pleased to purchase raffle tickets and to donate to the Relays Fund to support student travel. Congratulations to the NeuroImmuno team for taking first place. I was very happy to see that many of our PREP and BDBS students were able to attend. Excellence and inclusivity were on display and underscore the great strengths of our community.

As August draws to a close, I urge you all to enjoy the remaining days of summer. For those of you who are going on to new jobs, new positions or new programs, we wish you well with your next steps, and hope that you continue to be part of the Tufts community for rest of your lives. It is always a pleasure to watch our talented students go on to become accomplished alumni. I hope for all of you that the Tufts GSBS is helping you achieve your goals.
