Research/Areas of Interest:
Our lab focuses on neuropathic corneal pain (NCP) and neuroimmune changes in cornea due to ocular and systemic diseases. I am involved in different projects that aim to understand different etiologies, phenotypes and treatment strategies of NCP. I am also focused on in vivo confocal microscopic evaluation of ocular surface structures (corneal layers, limbus, conjunctiva, tarsal plate and eyelashes) and assessment of corneal nerve functions with novel tools. Dry eye and NCP associated with ocular surgeries such as refractive surgery and cataract surgery, neuro-immune changes in cornea caused by ocular surgeries and effect of preoperative and postoperative treatments to minimize these alterations constitute my other interests.
