GSBS provides help to students applying for NIH fellowships. Plan ahead for the next deadline.

Dear GSBS,

Fellowships and other external funding opportunities are beneficial for all students. In addition to helping develop grant writing skills through the application process, the awarding of a fellowship is a high honor for the student, their PI and the school. Including the receipt of a competitive fellowship on your CV will provide a strong competitive advantage when job searching after graduation.

The GSBS Dean’s Office assists students in applying for NIH F30 and F31 fellowships, as well as other awards. We encourage students to reach out to Jan Schenden (janet.schenden@tufts.edu) prior to an application deadline to let her know of their interest and to assist in the application process. The next NIH fellowship deadline is December 8. Interested students should contact Jan no later than November 1. The earlier the better!

As announced last week, students who receive a multi-year fellowship from the NIH or other external source will be awarded $1,000 to be used as the students sees fit. We will also be adding a fellowship page to the Awards page on our website, listing all recent awardees, and posting congratulations on our social media pages. We congratulate all past awardees and look forward to expanding the list.

For information on applying for fellowships, please go to our fellowship application page.
