Associate Dean's Message - May 10, 2021
We’re reaching the time of year when our annual Awards ceremony is traditionally held. At the ceremony we would honor all award recipients for the year. While we are unable to hold this event in person, all our award recipients will be honored as part of the pre-recorded Commencement ceremony, which will be available beginning at 10am on Sunday, May 23 at this link.
The GSBS awards ceremony is also where the recipients of our three year-end awards are normally announced. While I wish we could gather in person to celebrate these students, I am pleased to congratulate our winners here:
- The Norman I and Susan G Krinsky Excellence in Basic Science Teaching Award is presented to a graduate student for sustained excellence in teaching. This year’s awardees are Abe Bayer (Immunology MD/PhD) and Joshua Man (CMDB MD/PhD).
- The Louis Lasagna Award for Translational Research is presented to the GSBS student who has published the strongest paper in translational research in the previous 12 months. Hayley Muendlein (Genetics) is this year’s awardee.
- The Dean’s Award recognizes excellence in a degree candidate who has successfully defended his or her PhD thesis during the previous 12-month period. This year’s award goes to Dominique Ameroso (Neuroscience).
As was announced last week, we are proud to have two GSBS students who were awarded the Tufts University Presidential Award for Civic Life. They are Alyssa DiLeo and Sadi Quinones, both from Neuroscience.
