The Curriculum subcommittee of the GSBS Anti-Racism Working Group will launch a curriculum review of all GSBS courses. The review will identify missed curricular opportunities to discuss the intersection of race/ethnicity and biomedical research; consider how clinical implications of basic research can be equitably distributed to all communities; understand how basic science research may marginalize minority populations and/or engender mistrust; and highlight the contributions of scientists from backgrounds and communities that traditionally have been overlooked. The goal is to ensure our courses reflect a learning environment that embraces diversity and includes all GSBS students.

To accomplish this ambitious goal, we will be forming a review committee made up of current GSBS students. An e-mail will go out soon asking for volunteers to be part of the review team. Pairs of students will review courses and recommend changes to course syllabi, lecture presentations, reading materials, and assignments. Students will be compensated for this work.

We look forward to working toward creating a more equitable and anti-racist learning experience.
