Dear GSBS,

As we approach the heart of the admissions season and programs schedule interviews for prospective students, I find myself thinking about the number of students who are scheduling their thesis defenses over the next few months and the eleven students who plan to graduate in February. Our goal at GSBS is to train students to succeed in whatever realm of biomedical science they choose to pursue; that training doesn’t take place only in the lab or classroom. Making connections, networking and learning about careers, industries and institutions is as vital a component of your education as courses and lab work.

The annual Boston Graduate Health Sciences Career Fair and Employer Expo will be held virtually on March 1. Co-sponsored by GSBS, Public Health and the Friedman School of Nutrition, the fair will bring together more than 30 employers from across a variety of industries in two types of sessions. The Expo session will feature short employer presentations to learn more about the organizations’ work, mission, and culture. The Career Fair will consist of virtual booths where attendees can meet with employers to discuss their organizations, as well as specific job opportunities.

This event is not intended only for those students who are close to completing their degree; we encourage all trainees to attend to think about next steps and explore future opportunities. Registration details for the Fair – as well as information about a Mock Career Fair that will be held on February 2 – can be found on the Career Fair webpage.
