Dear GSBS Community,

With the awards season upon us – the Oscar nominations were announced last week, and the SAG Awards are presented at the end of the month – it is time to start thinking about GSBS’s own awards season. Applications are now open for variety of student awards. Students can submit applications for the following:

  • Krinsky Excellence in Teaching Award – Honors students who have shown sustained teaching excellence through classroom lectures, seminars, recitation/study sections, training students or tutoring.
  • Jonathan J. Schimmel, PhD, Fellowship – Assists PhD students who aspire to augment their scientific training with general business management and operational competencies, through training or internships in management, accounting, biomedical manufacturing, intellectual property law, and other related areas of organizational leadership.
  • GSBS Student Enrichment Fund (Travel Awards) – Supports PhD and MD/PhD student travel to meetings, courses or seminars.

Additionally, each program can nominate one student for the Dean’s Award, which honors the most meritorious graduates of the year; and the Louis Lasagna Graduate Student Award in Translational Research, which honors a GSBS student who has published the strongest paper in translational research in the previous 12-month period. Faculty should work with their Program Director regarding nominations.

The deadline for all nominations and applications is February 28, 2022. Further details are available on the Awards webpage.

Winners will be announced at our annual Awards Reception on Friday, May 20.

Dan Volchok, Associate Dean
