Research/Areas of Interest:

The emergence of multidrug resistance (MDR) in Acinetobacter baumannii is a major concern today, as nosocomial infections caused by the pathogen are more difficult to combat using currently available antibiotics. Using transposon mutagenesis we aim to elucidate the gene targets in fluoroquinolone resistant strains that likely buffer the cost associated with their resistance both in the presence and absence of antibiotics. The genes identified from these studies may serve as novel targets for future therapeutic developments against MDR Acinetobacter baumannii.
