Research/Areas of Interest:
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by a decline in cognitive function. In the Tesco Lab, I help culture human iPSCs derived from patients carrying familial Alzheimer’s disease mutations. By differentiating these cells into neurons, we can observe different cellular phenotypes to better understand the pathology of Alzheimer’s.This system can better model aspects of the disease as it presents in humans and potentially contribute to more effective therapeutics.
