Research/Areas of Interest:

Cellular protein quality control (PQC) pathways are important for maintaining the robustness of protein function. Defects in PQC are, therefore, associated with many diseases that affect the nervous system and muscle. Valosin-containing protein or p97 is an important component of protein quality control in cells. Mutations in p97 affect primarily the neurons, muscle, and bone. I aim to study the role of p97 mutations in driving the tissue-specific phenotypes in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) muscle.
