Research/Areas of Interest:

Maternal obesity is associated with adverse short- and long-term metabolic outcomes in the offspring. Lifestyle interventions of diet and exercise initiated before a planned pregnancy can ameliorate the health burden that obesity imposes in mother and child. My research project aims to determine how maternal adipose function and neonatal stem cell metabolism improve after pre-pregnancy lifestyle interventions, with the purpose of examining potential markers as predictors of long-term metabolic health in the offspring.
