Research/Areas of Interest:
We are studying how cytokines regulate substance P receptor expression in inflammation like that seen in schistosomiasis and inflammatory bowel disease. We have an Alexa-labelled substance P that can be use to identify and isolate lymphocytes expressing the substance P receptor. We also have substance P receptor- transfected cell lines that express this receptor. We use these cell lines to measure the effect of certain cytokines on the binding, internalization and cycling of the receptor using confocal microscopy.
