Associate Dean's Message - February 16, 2021
Recently the Board of Trustees conferred degrees for our February PhD graduates. They are: Abdo Abou-Slaybi (Immunology), Kelsey Barrasso (Micro), Robert Blakemore (Micro), Michael Collins (CMDB), Michael Hyde (CMDB), Allison Matthews (Micro), Kathleen Nevola (CMDB), Minagi Ozawa (Neuro) and Alan Yeo (CMDB). Congratulations to all.
We are in the early stages in planning a virtual commencement event for the Spring, an event that will include recognition of award winners. Information will be going out to students to apply for the Krinsky teaching award and the Student Enrichment Fund Travel awards, as well as to Program Directors to nominate students for the Dean’s and Lasagna awards. Please submit nominations as appropriate.
There are two important programs coming up that will aid all students, regardless of where they are in their program or their intended career paths. First, our annual Career Fair (in conjunction with the Schools of Nutrition, and Public Health and Professional Degree Programs) will be held on Tuesday, February 23. The fair will consist of an Employer Expo with presentations from a variety of employers and the Career Fair to meet with individual employers. Registration closes on Wednesday. Additional details are below.
Second, on March 9 and 10, Hirsh Library will hold a Data Carpentry workshop with a focus on R programing, spreadsheet organization, Open Refine, and R/R Studio. Registration is limited and is available first for the GSBS community before it opens up to the rest of Tufts. For more information and to register, please go to the R workshop website. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Andrea Kang (email@example.com).
