Associate Dean's Message - January 4, 2021
Welcome to a New Year ---
Welcome back to all continuing students and a special welcome to all our new students. I hope everyone had good holidays and a restful break. I know most of us were unable to visit family and friends; for me, it was a fairly quiet, stay-at-home type break. I hope you were able to stay safe and have Zoom family and friends’ gatherings.
This week and next we will hold Orientation for our 24 new students - virtually of course! Orientation will start at 1 pm on Thursday and that afternoon starting at 4pm GSC will hold a virtual club fair to introduce the students to a variety of ways to become engaged in our community. If you are a member of a club (or two), work with your club leadership to attend and meet the students. GSC will also hold a social event in a few weeks. Each program should be holding program meetings to introduce the new students to the students and faculty within the program. Be sure to attend to meet your new colleagues. Lab rotations for new students will start on January 13 and didactic classes for all begin the week of January 18.
While we continue in a heightened state of COVID restrictions, please continue to stay safe through social distancing, mask wearing and regular testing. Be sure to follow the proper testing procedure (two tests, 4 days apart) if you have traveled to or from the Boston area. I am hopeful that restrictions may ease toward the end of the semester. In the meantime, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out.
