Wishing everyone well and giving thanks to our health care workers. Planning for restarting limited research is underway but no dates as yet!
Jaharis Building in the spring

Dear GSBS Community,

Happy Star Wars Day: May the Fourth be with you. As the weather improves from a cold April, I hope you are able to enjoy the Spring blossoms while socially distancing. Last week, I walked in the Public Garden to find the Make Way for Ducklings bronze birds wearing surgical masks, surrounded by potted daffodils and a placard on Mother Duck saying thanks to all our healthcare workers and essential personnel. It was a lovely image, and reminded me that, despite all our hardships, these workers and those now losing employment are dealing with so much more.

I know you are all wanting to get back in the lab, as am I. There are committees working on plans to restart research and reopen labs safely, with limited occupancy. As of now, there is not a definite timeline for reopening; until then, be safe, keep distanced, and do what you can to grow and contribute as a biomedical scientist.

I wish everyone a Happy Cinco de Mayo tomorrow, and a Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

Best wishes, Dan
